   Shooting is a regular activity in the Army Cadet Force (ACF). ALL Cadets are   
   FULLY TRAINED  before using ANY Rifle and are fully SUPERVISED whilst Shooting. 
     
   Several hours of training are undertaken before the cadets are allowed on the range.  
   This includes classroom training and hands-on experience with the rifle.  
   Cadets are tested on the theory and practice of rifle shooting  
   prior to their first experience of rifle shooting 
   There are five weapons that the ACF use. 
     
   

The Air Rifle is used to instruct a Cadet in the
basics of shooting and to build confidence &
ability before advancing onto other weapons

The No8 (.22) rifle is the first weapon a cadet will
be allowed to fire, a cadet has to go through
his/her dry training and Pass a Weapons Handling
TEST before he/she can actually fire the weapon

Once cadets have proved themselves to be
proficient with The No8 Rifle. They will be able to
train & fire the  GP Cadet Rifle. The GP rifle is a
modification to the standard British Army rifle
 on current issue - L85A2.

Once issued to the cadet force country wide

It will include:

 
New magazines & Safe Blank Firing System

Once cadets have proved themselves to be
proficient with The Cadet GP Rifle. They will be 
able to train & fire the  Light Support Weapon.
The LSW is a modification to the standard British
Army rifle on current issue - L86A2

The Cadet GP & LSW can also be fired blank and used
during fieldcraft training and on exercise

weapons and are more experienced in the
techniques of shooting they can progress on to
the Target rifle

For all of the above weapon systems, there are Sussex Army Cadet Force Teams that are

selected from the Counties Cadets, that participate in Shooting Competitions all over the
country
