| | | | Shooting is a regular activity in the Army Cadet Force (ACF). ALL Cadets are | |
| | | | FULLY TRAINED before using ANY Rifle and are fully SUPERVISED whilst Shooting. | |
| | | | | |
| | | | Several hours of training are undertaken before the cadets are allowed on the range. | |
| | | | This includes classroom training and hands-on experience with the rifle. | |
| | | | Cadets are tested on the theory and practice of rifle shooting | |
| | | | prior to their first experience of rifle shooting | |
| | | | There are five weapons that the ACF use. | |
| | | | | |
| | | |
| | The Air Rifle is used to instruct a Cadet in the | | basics of shooting and to build confidence & | | ability before advancing onto other weapons | | |
| The Air Rifle | | | | | | | |

| The No8. Rifle (.22) | | | | | | |

| | | | Once cadets reach 3* level. They will be | | able to train & fire the Light Support Weapon. | | The LSW is a modification to the standard British | | Army rifle on current issue - L86A2 |
| The Light Support Weapon (LSW) | | | | | | The Cadet GP & LSW can also be fired blank and used | | during fieldcraft training and on exercise | | | | | | |
| | Once cadets have established the use of all | | weapons and are more experienced in the | | techniques of shooting they can progress on to | | the Target rifle |
| The Target Rifle | | | | | | | |
| | All cadets will be given the opportunity | | of participating in the sport of | | Clay Target Shooting | | |
| Clay Target Shotgun | | | | |
For all of the above weapon systems, there are Sussex Army Cadet Force Teams that are | | selected from the Counties Cadets, that participate in Shooting Competitions all over the | | country | | | |
